The Jet AFS-1000B Air Filter
I bought my Jet Air Filtration System (Model # AFS-1000B) from Amazon.com when we moved into our new home in April of 2015. As you can see in the pictures below The Geek Pub shop is completely empty! We’ve come a long way since then!
The Jet Air Filtration system is ideally mounted on the ceiling of your work shop. It comes with several different mounting options. To reduce noise and vibration I chose to hang mine with eye bolts to ceiling joists and then use some chain links with screw slots to support the AFS-1000B. The Jet Air Filtration System weighs in at 60lbs. It’s not all that heavy but it is really bulky. It took me and a friends together to lift it to the ceiling and mount it. You could do it by yourself, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
The AFS-1000B has a three speed fan motor, remote control (IR), two stage filter, and operation timer allowing you to set it to run for 2, 4, or 6 hours and then automatically turn off. This is ideal for those times your done working but want to get the lingering dust out of the air. The Jet Air Filtration System is loud, but not too loud. You should be able to work comfortably with it going, even on its highest speed. It’s not ideal for shooting video though, so I generally turn it off when shooting The Geek Pub videos.
I only have one gripe about this unit. It’s that the IR sensor is only on the back side. That’s fine for some, but I’d really like it if the IR sensor was on the bottom of the unit so it could be operated remotely from all sides. Too bad, that would have been a very simple design change for jet to incorporate.
